WHEN THE WAR IS THERE, WE HAVE TO WIN After the attacks in the editing headquarters of Charlie Hebdo, the editorial director of Le Figaro calls for national unity and a response without weakness against terrorism. This is a war, a real war waged not by soldiers but by assassins shady, methodical and organized killers, whose quiet savagery cold blood. They killed yesterday in central Paris. This war a long time we did not want to see it. It was going so far away, is it not, on the borders of Syria, Iraq, Nigeria or Libya ... By scruple - probably for fear too - we do not even dare say his name. The doomsayers who were not afraid to break the set were promptly disqualified. The warning signs - those crazy acts committed by Christmas yet unbalanced - immediately minimized. Since yesterday, euphemisms are no longer relevant: it is a war, a real war, which was declared us the war of Islamist fanaticism against the West, Europe and the values of democracy. Make no mistake about it. If France is now in the crosshairs fools of Allah, the other free countries were yesterday, and others will be again tomorrow. Basically, it is not this or that nation is targeted, but a way of life, values, civilization - ours - in which the woman is equal to man, the rights of conscience a non-negotiable requirement and freedom of expression an absolute imperative. By murdering journalists and police - it should not be forgotten - the terrorists did not strike at random. They aimed at the heart of freedom of thought and those who protect it, and through them Democracy and Republic, which are the two pillars of our nation. But the second duty is to arm themselves. Morally, first how to defend our values if we are not convinced of their pre-eminent dignity? Politically and legally, then: too long, the name of a perverted humanism, a rogue anti-racism, we have been complacent to our worst enemies. Faced with the war, the first duty is to unite. Whatever our origins, our opinions, our religions or our political options, proclaim immediately and without barguigner sacred union. Nothing would be worse in the event that our country is, as a gift to the opponent quarrels low floor or politicians divisions. We must welcome in this respect the dignity of our public officials that President at the head, were able to find the right words.
