WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME – Just wondering by Dan Kessner Your car over heated and you stopped on the side of the road near a ditch or stream and dipped up water to refill the radiator? You picked up a hitchhiker? You stopped at a barbed “bob” wire fence and someone got out and opened the “gap” for you to drive through? The only heat in the house was a fire place where if you stood in front of it you were too cold on one side and too warm on the other side? You had a bad case of “Red Bugs”? You had a “dog tick” full of blood stuck on your back? You were stung by a bee on your foot while running bare footed? Your mom soaked your foot in “Coal Oil” for a bad cut or nail puncture? Your mom made you some “snow ice cream? You were told to watch out for the bull when crossing the pasture? You, as a boy, slept in the bed with your brothers or, as a girl, with your sisters? You ate a peanut butter and banana sandwich? You, as a boy, ran without a shirt long enough to get a bad sunburn? You rolled up your right pant leg to keep it from getting caught in the bike chain? Your mom rubbed your chest with BENGAY for the croup? You watched a TV program without any expletives - “cuss words”? You watched a TV program with friends and were not embarrassed by the commercials? You told your child to turn off that program, it was nothing but trash? One last question. If when TV first came out would your parents have allowed one in the house if the programs and commercials were as they are today? Just something to think about.
