WHEN WOMEN SUCCEED, THE MALE EGO GETS BRUISED Socialization practices the world over teach men to be on top of everything. Women are taught to accept a lesser position. This has conditioned men to believe that men have to be ahead of women on all fronts. So, when a girlfriend excels, the man is truly unhappy. Subconsciously men feel bad about themselves even when no direct completion exists. According to University of Florida researcher, Kate Ratliff, it is even in as innocuous matters as losing weight. Men interpret their partner’s success as their own failure. This is a case of obvious self-esteem for men. Most men are comfortable when their partner score poorly are on the lower 12% of any test. This speaks volumes about the fragile male ego!
