WHEN YOU STOP GOING TO CHURCH what is at stake is really your own spiritual growth, protection, and blessing because you are doing what YOU want and not what God wants. You are living disconnected from the body of Christ. The Church is not meant to take our individuality or bring us to total conformity. The Bible is intentional about celebrating our differences, but highlights how we are stronger together with Christ as our common denominator. God wants us to fellowship with other believers for our own good. We need each other to grow in faith, to learn from the successes and failures of others, to learn how to serve people who are like you and not like you, and to learn to forgive. Church is also meant to serve as a support group, a living community, that gives us opportunities to love and serve one another. Ephesians 4:2, 1 Peter 4:10, 1 Thessalonians 5:11, James 5:16, are all good examples of how God calls us to love and serve. Many people have good intentions of living these scriptures out in their day-to-day lives, but the busyness of life tends to catch up with all of us and we often miss opportunities to do so. The Church however can present us with the opportunities to use the gifts that God has given us to help one another.
