WHEN YOUR BIGGEST OPPOSITION SEEMS TO BE YOUR OWN - TopicsExpress

WHEN YOUR BIGGEST OPPOSITION SEEMS TO BE YOUR OWN GOVT President Yoweri Museveni seems to have outwitted all his political enemies, from Milton Obote, Idi Amin, Kizza Besigye, and, lately, Amama Mbabazi. As a result, Museveni has started out competing the last enemy standing, his own government. Where government fails to pay for the national broadcaster, UBC to acquire 2014 World Cup rights, Museveni steps in and bails the station out with Shs 1.5bn. Where government fails to pay tuition fees for its citizens at public universities hence the inevitable 10% increment, Museveni steps in and pays Shs 2.1bn for the incoming first-year students. Even the president’s wife, Janet Museveni has not been spared the financial burden. Last year in September she had to donate an ambulance to Matany Missionary Hospital in Napak District because the health facility did not have one. Never mind that government is tasked to provide such funding - after all tax collections have increased from a mere Shs 5bn in 1986 to Shs 7.1trillion in 2013. Hopefully the government will start doing what it ought to do and stop stretching our president. Or we can start depositing our taxes direct on the presidents bank account instead. M7 should retire honorably; he has killed all Government institutions, structures are no longer functioning; Uganda needs a new leader with fresh ideas to transform the country from Anarchy and Autocracy.
