WHERE ARE ALL THOSE LOVERS OF PALESTINIANS? I have lost a few friends over the last few weeks as their real attitudes towards Jews and the State of Israel were finally exposed. Many of them did not limit their anti zionism to uninformed condemnation of Israel but organized and participated in anti Israeli demonstrations. I could live with that because a free society behooves us to tolerate differing opinions. What really betrayed their false sympathy for Palestinians as pure anti semitism was their response to my calls for us to organize real protests in favor of the inhabitants of Gaza. As the crisis died down, I wanted us to protest to make sure that the impending international efforts and aid for reconstruction of Gaza should actually be directed at helping the poor in Gaza and not the bank accounts of Palestinian leaders and rocket salesmen. We have now seen that most of the foreign aid given to Palestine either ended up in Swiss and Dubai bank accounts or were used in the construction of tunnels while Palestinians in Gaza wallowed in abject poverty and hopelessness. There is no reason why refugee camps should exist in Gaza after all the billions poured into the territory by the U.S, the EU and the rich Arab States over the past ten years. It would be a War Crime if this time again the international community in the reconstruction of Gaza does not entirely eliminate refugee camps there. Obviously, my liberal/progressive friends are like Hamas leaders not interested in such a solution. It will deprive Hamas leaders a ready pool of desperados for terrorist operations, and for my liberal friends it will deprive them of a blackmail tool to castigate Israel. As for my Christian friends so angry about the death of Palestinian children, none of them has offered to join me in demonstrations for the Yazidis and Chaldean Christians being slaughtered in Iraq. I would have thought that their high sense of Christian sympathy and outrage, would, added to their sense of community, bring them out in the millions. Unfortunately, since Israel could not be linked to these massacres, my Christian friends did not want to be bothered. So you see, my friends have been exposed as moral frauds and I cannot shake their hands with any amount of sincerity.
