WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Its a good while since i did the last one of this series-the main idea of this page and a change of theme (it began as Garethguitars Community Page in 2009!) as well as related photo-albums,was to help find former local people living away, and rekindle old friendships and for Facebook members or even others not on Facebook to seek contact with locals now living away with the aid of family or friends who are on here...and a good few old Corwenites have been met with since,on here mostly, though not all been met in the flesh by me, so to say,but its the next-best thing!...i do get a big high when i see someone has traced a long lost relative or friend through this group-page due to an article or old photo...nice,isnt it? Before i name a few names again, some i mentioned before but not traced, just a mention about that former chapel,Cernyw in the photo, named after a former minister who was there and lived to great age. Round about this time,a big xmas party was held there during the 1950ies i and my sisters attended, along with others who went to Sunday School there (it was the done thing then-each chapel or church had its own Sunday School-it was said to have originated in the former Brook Street in a top room up some stone steps. So,we had Father Christmas visit there too,and it always seemed to snow-ill never forget the magic as a small child,an older chapel member sent out to look for the white bearded and red cloaked old gent,re-entering the side door of the large vestry at the back where the party was held shouting...ive just had word his sleigh has been seen coming up the street!!... and each child got a small gift after from him following a splendid spread for tea, with cream cakes, sandwiches and jelly and trifle!-and it usually culminated in a film show with the late Mr John Gruffydd Jones,a teacher at Penybryn School, who brought his cine-projector and screen in a long black case!...and he was later Head teacher of the old Church School (where Ruth Lee factory is now) and after that Llandderfel School. One family i remember lived in Dolafon(later Valentines) across to the Royal Oak...i only remember one of the children who came to the sunday school-her name was i think Meriel...and another girl from Frondegan only daughter whose dad worked at Astleys-Nerys Jones, some names of old Corwen schoolmates i have actually found on Facebook here, but im not a one for the add friend thing really,a bit timid for that!...but i do accept friend requests ( they know where to find me if they wish to,im sure!) And so some more names older members may recall-i heard Raymond Spicer, one of a large former London family, formerly of Tycha Llyn up the forestry there then Uwchydre, visited Corwen regularly, staying the weekend at either the Crown or Owain Glyndwr-and i was told he had asked my whereabouts-(i rarely go out evenings nor weekend nights) and a friend has told him where i live,i dont get many visitors so i may get a surprise one day,and therell be a cuppa waiting if he or any other ex-Corwen calls! I also came across a Gordon Spicer on here, hes into the chemtrail thing and it is how i found him-but i dont know if hes the same one i knew in Corwen as a little lad,Raymonds younger bro. from the photos. And another who lived in the house they once lived in-Stuart (or Stewart) Roberts,a little younger than me-his dad Reg was a postman and a wife called Ninw. Two others were Jackie Evans(post) sister Lillian and a younger brother Mitchel (or Mitchele) Another chap close to my age is Keith Dandy, only child of Mr Dandy,a Londoner who i think was a lorry driver at former Corwen Creamery (believe it or not, theres dozens of that rather uncommon name here!)i heard hed been trying to contact Corwen people. There was the Hudson family from Treddol somewhere,i only know Stan and Megan the eldest ones-Gordon Jones of Plas Isa farm, and a girl in school with me Maureen Roberts formerly of a cottage at Rhug-i hear she runs a builders merchants somewhere in Bwlchgwyn or Minera area with her husband or partner....another schoolmate Neil Wilson the owner and formerly of Brynffynnon Cottage below Cae Coed who i last knew to be in Chester area said hed met her there years ago when i was maintaining the cottage gardens here...ive not seen him in years either.Another ive not seen is a chap called Hocking formerly of Llandrillo-is it Ron...and another brother called Glyn,he was friendly in school with a David Botwood, who was army mad!....and i hear he later made a career of it-probably retired now.The former Corwen girls are most difficult to trace due to marriage hence name changes.I still trawl the pages here now and then to find former Corwen and district people i knew...
