WHERE DO WORKS FIT IN UNDER GRACE? Ephesians 2:8-10, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (SALVATION IS THE TOTAL WORK OF GOD.) “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus UNTO good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Grace is the total, complete work of God for man, out of which should come the faithful work of man for God as a response. Not works for salvation, but works from salvation. Where do works fit in under grace? You can know your position in Christ, but what about your practice of that lived out in everyday life? Men are said to be saved so that good works may result. Every Christian passes through the creative hand of God a second time and becomes a new creation that God ordained to do good works. Men cannot see your light inside and that you are no longer in darkness. Men cannot see your faith. It is invisible. Men cannot see you are a new creation inside, but they can see outward evidence of that inward change. The shine of the light inside you is the works you do outside. Matthew 5:14-16, “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” You see, it is not natural to do good works for God, it is supernatural. Good works come from our walk with Him. After you get saved, you are to get your walk outside to measure up to His work inside. Your life is not to be lived unnoticed. We are not Christians undercover or secret service Christians. Isaiah 60:3 says, “And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.” This has to do with our doing good works. Our good works are the shine of the light. Daniel 12:3 says , “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever.” Our works cause us to shine. 1Peter 2:12, “Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.” Our works are noticed by others.
