WHERE IS NIGERIA AMONG AFRICAS TOP 10 MOST PROSPEROUS COUNTRIES? - THE LEGATUM INSTITUTE. Last November the Legatum Institute released a Report on Africas most prosperous countries. The 2014 Africa Prosperity Report ranks 38 countries in terms of prosperity—defined as wealth and wellbeing, based on criteria ranging from economics to education to health, and focusing on the continents key industries and corporations. Of the top 10, Botswana tops the rankings, emerging as the most prosperous country in Africa and has been the most prosperous country in Africa for the past three years. Nigeria is ranked 27th, despite other recent reports of being the largest economy on the African continent (à la The Economist). The 2014 top 10 list appears as: 1. Botswana 2. South Africa 3.
