WHERE IS THE PREACHING OF THE CROSS – PART 2 Series IS THIS PETTY DOCTRINE!! WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT CHRIST CRUCIFIED? “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent”, John 17:3 YET THE CROSS, IN THE DOCTRINAL SENSE OF IT, IS WHAT HAS BEEN LEFT OUT OF THE MODERN GOSPEL, even by those who speak much of THE BLOOD. It is the cross that has been neglected, the cross of which the apostle testifies, ‘WE PREACH CHIRST CRUCIFIED, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness.’ Crucifixion in itself does not involve shed blood. The blood of Jesus was shed after death at the cross. The shed blood was certainly a witness of death, and what was accomplished in death. BUT THE CRUCIFIED BODY ITSELF IS A WITNESS by THE DOCTRINE OF THE CROSS. Quite apart from THE BLOOD, it was THE BODY THAT WAS CRUCIFIED. The flesh, vicariously, was hung up to die, in disgrace, under judgment. THIS IS THE TRUTH OF THE CROSS. DO YOU KNOW IT? Just as it was a divine work to which the blood gave witness, so the disgraceful shame of the crucified body testified also to the same death of Christ in a way that showed the tremendous breadth of God’s work in salvation by Jesus Christ. It is this, YOU CALL PETTY DOCTRINE, THE APOSTOLIC DOCTRINE that SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY, WITH ITS LEGAL AND CONSTRICTING BONDAGE OF HUMAN WISDOM AND PHILOSOPHY, QUITE MISSES. This is a system which traps itself in the tradition of the elders and the seeking of human praise and honours, whilst quite FALLING OF THE REVELATION OF THE SPIRIT, AND THE APPROBATION OF YOU CALL YOUR ONE GOD. DO YOU KNOW IT? The spiritual reality is that the blood witnesses to all that was DONE IN THE BODY, whilst the cross witnesses to all that was DONE TO THE BODY. DO YOU SEE IT? The observation of this truth in the reading of the New Testament opens up THE NATURE OF THE WORK OF GOD IN THE DEATH OF CHRIST. TO BE CONTINUED….
