WHERE THE BUFFALO ROAM (1980) Bill Murray is the legendary reporter Hunter S Thompson. The movie focuses on Thompsons misadventures with his maniac attorney Lazlo (Peter Boyle). The movie isnt funny and painful to watch. But if I had to pick a favorite scene, it would be where Thompson confronts Nixon in the mens bathroom. Its only real claim to fame is that Murray learned his gonzo-styled version of comedy when he visited Hunter S Thompson during filming. Thompson was such a influence on Murray that the style spilled over onto SNL and eventually Caddyshack, You could say Thompsons influence helped create one of Murrays most famous characters, Carl the Groundskeeper.
