So in abid to xray the truth behind this scheme one must delve into what was promised by Goodluck Jonathan. In a bid to reduce maternal mortality rate in Nigeria, 15 Billion Naira per annum was earmarked to provide every woman who attends Antenatal care in Nigeria the following 1. 1 thousand naira with each ANC visit to the tune of N5000. 2. A special discount for each woman who delivers in a Government hospital. 3. A delivery pack. And indeed this is a beautiful plan fashioned under the Midwifery Service Scheme and would go a long way to ofset the costs of Care which has been the recurrent mitigating circumstances responsible for why attendance at ANC clinics in Nigeria is less than 50% and delivery in hospital less than 40%. This translates to alot of women seeking substandard cheaper alternatives which contributes immensely towards the vast amounts of complications and death. But alas just like everything that typifies the regime of GEJ, lofty ideas on paper translate to a conduit for corrupt enrichment of his minions and accolytes. SURE-P funds were poured into this phantom scheme and the results are plain for all to see. Not a single Nigerian woman till date has received the N5000. Hence one must ask GEJ, wheres pregnant womens money? And in a bid to cover up this monumental fraud, a pack containing a pair of gloves, some drapes is distributed which is called Mama Pack that is not worth up to N500. And the retinue of promised discounts are not provided. Once again this xrays the folly of GEJs regime. Lofty exquiste ideas that exist only on paper but corruption and the lack of decisive leadership has robbed the regime of much of its lustre.
