WHEW! Well the second Layer of Paper Mache has been applied to the Dementor Mask and it is curing in a low oven. It looks SOOO much better - I made a thicker paste and it went on a lot more smoothly and snugly. The ratio was 1/2 cup flour and 1/2 cup water and a 1/4 cup white glue. The thicker paste helped the newspaper cling MUCH better. The whole thing feels much less brittle. It feels heavy now compared to before, we will see if it lightens up after it dries in the oven which it appears to be doing now. I need to make some sort of mounting that I can elevate it on so I can work the edges. But really I am thinking that if it comes out decently rigid then my next layer is going to be the inside and the edges. I am hoping to get one more layer on tonight before I go to bed.
