WHICH CUP WILL YOU RECEIVE? HILLSIDE HELPS-“Therefore wait upon me, saith the Lord, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour out upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.” (Zephaniah 3:8) There are three cups mentioned in the scriptures that, when understood, pictures the destiny of all people on the earth. There is the CUP of SIN AND WICKEDNESS. Jesus drank of this cup in the Garden of Gethsemane. (Luke 22:39-44). He first prayed that if it was at all possible let this cup pass. But, He surrendered to the will of the Father and drank from this bitter cup. Mankind needed a substitute, someone on whom God could pour out His wrath and judgment. Jesus is our substitute, for on Calvary, He received the wrath of God on behalf of all who would ever come and trust Jesus as Savior and Lord. There is the CUP of SALVATION. “I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.” (Ps 116:13) This is the redemption that comes only through Jesus to those who call on Him. “Come now let us reason together saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” (Isa 1:18) Salvation is through the blood of the only Savior, Jesus Christ. There is the CUP of GOD’S WRATH. “The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of His indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.” (Rev 14:10) Those who never receive the Cup of Salvation will one day, perhaps sooner than later, drink from the Cup of God’s wrath. I pray you will hear God’s call and come to Jesus receiving His free cup of Salvation. If you never receive this cup, dear friend, you will face the cup of God’s wrath and judgment.
