WHICH IS MORE DEADLY: FEAR OR EBOLA VIRUS? I woke up around - TopicsExpress

WHICH IS MORE DEADLY: FEAR OR EBOLA VIRUS? I woke up around 4:30am on Friday to read a message that I should have my bath with added salt and water and drink same before going out. I laughed and beginning to imagine with my knowledge as an Engineering graduate to descend so low to believe such rumour that that will prevent EBOLA VIRUS. How would anyone believe that without proven advice from learned person! Not quite long, a doctor friend sent another message to shed more light about the virus and need not to entertain unnecessary fear. This came after a widely circulated rumour that bitter kola will cure same. Though bitter kola has been known to cure throat challenge. But this is ridiculous for anyone to believe that a virus will be killed by it. According to report, the disease was first discovered in 1976 in two simultaneous outbreaks, one in a village near the Ebola River in the Democratic Republic of Congo DRC and in a remote area of Sudan. The origin was discovered to be from fruit bats (Pteropodidae). It will interest us that such case was never recorded in same areas since then. My spiritual father- Pastor E A Adeboye in his new year prophesies/100 days fasting had said that there will be a major breakthrough in medicine this year. Same, I notice in reduction in the outcry of AIDS/HIV virus. People can now manage the disease. So when the case if EBOLA virus was mentioned, I was not scared since I had prepared my mind. But I was embarrassed at the way people are taking it. It was really embarrassing around Ikeja, Lagos yesterday with the way people were so scared that they couldnt transact as expected. One of the really important elements in our lives is hope. Yet as we look around us, doesnt there seem to be a lack in so many areas, yet will appear to be Christ! We think about inflation, leadership, resources, and world tension. We think about people whose health has failed or who face job or relationship, where there seems to be no hope. It is important to restore our hope. But isnt is much more important to fulfill our hope? I am not disputing the danger of this virus. Christian science is not simply blind optimism, where people hope for some idea that can be realized and ignore the human problems they are faced with. I will never doubt what medicine got to offer us, but i strongly believe in God that says, I am the Lord that healeth thee. Job experienced that through faith, he conquered. Elijah and David wasnt exceptional. Not to talk of the God, the Son (Jesus Christ). I was in shocked, awed and disbelieved that people could exercise so much fear on a disease not so rampant like sins. If it is as being popularized, then almost half of the country would have been effected. If we could fear God in same manner we fear this virus, then the world will be a better place to live. Believe me! God didnt promise a life without challenges. But He promised to protect us. Epidemics may come, but He has a way to protect His children. To me, the most deadly disease is FEAR! Now, many questions are begging for answers, amongst are: How did DRC conquer the virus when it was first discovered in 1976? Why the uproar now in haste? If fruit bats are the carrier and we are asked to stop consuming bush meats, what about Cows, remember that cows feed on same grass bush animals feed on? If all the precautions are to be adhered to, what is the possibility that we are safe considering the unhealthy contacts of Nigerians? I conclude that, we should stop exercising fear unnecessarily. Rather we channel our fear to the one who can kill without notice. If truly you are in Christ and believe in God, just be careful and allow God to have His way as He did to Egyptians in those days. God shall never visit us with His wrath in whatever form in Jesus Name, Amen.
