WHILE WELCOMING ALL PROGRESSIVE CONGRESS (APC) NEVER - TopicsExpress

WHILE WELCOMING ALL PROGRESSIVE CONGRESS (APC) NEVER FORGETS It’s now no longer news that a new party has been birth into the political spectrum. Whereas a new party will normally have teething problem, in this case most of the initial issues they have discussed at the period of incubation or pregnancy. Though finding solutions to life problems are continuous and congruent to our existence. From time to time there will be disagreements as to the best approach to solving the problems of the nation. Someone said “if two people always agree about issues, then one of them is not necessary”. What more a group of strange bed fellows. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) finally registers APC, with the completion of the registration process, Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigeria’s Peoples Party (ANPP) and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) cease to exist. They are now merged into one, that enhance the status of the opposition in the country, as they are better position to rivaled the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP). However, there is something worthy of our attention to ponder. We seem to have an attitude of only appreciating our leaders after they are out of power. While in power we often see no good in them. Obasanjo, while in power between 1999-2007 was loved by some people, but majority hated him. However, posterity will certainly judge him fairer, he might have done some things wrongly, but certainly there are many things his government achieves. Yar’adua was criticized as been too slow and all that, but he is certainly the prudent leader Nigeria ever had, in terms of Fiscal responsibility, his track record in Katsina State, where he was Governor for two terms of Four years apiece, he left over six billion naira in the state coffers when his contemporaries left billions of debts. He publicly declared his assets which constitutionally is not compulsory. Ministries and extra-ministerial departments return back to the National treasury, unspent budgetary provisions in a fiscal year. Today, we have Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the man loved by many but hated by majority; he has been called many names, he is rated the most criticized President in World by some unverified sources, but just wait, till he is out of office. Nigerians are tired of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), though to say that majority of Nigerians are opposed to the PDP is a myth of some sort, as there is no statistic that has been taken that is available to the writer to confirm that thesis. However, taking the street value, the writer can make such assertion. Anything that will oust the PDP out of power will have an initial welcome party. The Libyans celebrated the ouster of Gadhafi, though the economic status of the average Libyan was very good compared to what obtains in Nigeria, yet owning to the propaganda of the West and a few greedy Libyans for selfish reasons of their own push for revolution that culminated in the public disgrace of Gadhafi, that is not to absolve the man for failing to read the signs on the wall. Forty years on the throne is too much for any man to stay in our contemporary civilization. He should have learned from the Cuban revolutionary leader, Fidel Castro, who ease out of power or step aside and handed over to his brother. Psychologically it was the magic wand that has kept him in government, but in the background. With a new face in leadership, the psychic mindset of the masses is taken care of. They will not be easily lull to protest or revolution by the propaganda from the west as in the case of Libya. For now Nigerians are happy that APC has come to stay, and better positioned to yank out the PDP out of Power in 2015. So long as, the in-house clean-up of personal ambition is handled properly the PDP will certainly be kick out in 2015 from Aso Rock Villa and replace by APC. It is incumbent on all and sundry that we consciously know what we are doing. To sale out to a mythic Eldorado expectation of a new Nigeria in an APC led Aso Rock, is to believe that the present earth suffering will end when we go to heaven, thus making us malleable to enduring the present predicaments at the expense of the luxury of a few, who obviously are already having a “taste of heaven on Earth.” I guess the sufferers are having a taste of hell on earth, unfortunately without knowing it. We must work with APC to push PDP out of Aso Rock, but we must ensure that we also push APC out by 2019, any mistake on our part, to allow the APC stay beyond four years, will be a very big mistake on our part, we cannot afford to do that anymore. As when they consolidate their stay in power, they are more ruthless and deadlier than PDP. Even though most of the so-called PDP members will decamp to APC if they lose in 2015 and APC will happily welcome them, after all they are old friends. Nasir El-Rufai, Femi Fani Kayode, Audu Ogbeh, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, Bisi Akande etc and the PDP family. Nigerians should realize that all these politicians are first of all after their own personal interest, they only like to use dissatisfied people as human shield and foot soldiers. We must not allow them to continue using us indefinitely. We should grow our democracy to such level that it is truly the masses that decides who become leaders. We must do that at the constituency level at least in 2015, and then we can push for it wholesomely in 2019. “After all whatsoever a man ardently desires, sincerely believes and enthusiastically acts upon it, will inevitably come to pass” Professor Anya O.
