WHO ARE THE FULANI AND THEIR ORIGIN: PART 3; Rise to political Dominance; Begining as early as 17th & 18th centuries but mainly in the 19th century, fulas took control of various states in west africa. These included the fulani Empire founded by usman dan fodiyo(which itself include smaller states) Fouta Djallon, massina and others. M Delafose suggested that with the enpansion of the fulani from futa to Darfur all these become known to the arab as Takrur.
