WHO IS YOUR COUNSELLOR? Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety. (Prov. 11:14, KJV) Many people have found their lives in a mess because of who they listen to or who they did not listen to. You must have people who can speak wisdom into your life and straighten you when you go wrong. The Hebrew word used for counsel in our opening text is tachbulah which means guide. Life is just like when you embark on a tour which requires that you employ the services of a tour guide to show you the nice places and also assist you so you do not miss your way. The greatest counselor is the Holy Spirit; and by His inspiration men are able to give sound and godly counsel. Never accept counsel from men who do not believe in the Holy Spirit. They can lead you astray. So the point here is that you seek counsel, because it would ensure your safety. But nonetheless, seek for counsel from men who are spirit-filled.
