WHO WINS IN A DEMOCRACY? THE STRONG AND ORGANIZED GROUP? - TopicsExpress

WHO WINS IN A DEMOCRACY? THE STRONG AND ORGANIZED GROUP? In the people are spotted societal needs that the governor should exploit to determine activities. When a government establishes a barrier between them and the people, then we have a power struggle. In most cases, it is the root of instability in society simply because the people believe power belongs to them. It is in fact the generic meaning of democracy: the people at the helm of the structure of decision-makers; empowered to dictate what the governor should be doing. In those elections it is always about the absolute majority of the people, though the notable exception could be deliberate disenfranchisement like we saw in the Kailahun 2007 votes or the case of a skilful rigged of ballots like we saw in the November 2012 votes. Those exceptions or shortfalls can only be averted with a formidable and strong opposition. Democracy is said to be viable and strong when we have all machinery in proper working order, otherwise we have a democratic system with multiple challenges often against the interest of the people. HOW TO GET A STRONG OPPOSITION, In every organization, there should be a vision that shapes group interest. It is a path to strategic management intervention. When an organization has a clear and well-articulated vision, it is always easy to get others to rally around it: easy to tap into their commitment because they fully understand the guarantees for their actions in the group. There will be productivity improvement because the organization’s mission shall help to produce milestone objectives and quantify measurable performances. In this environment, it is easy to identify members of the group who are committed to the vision and those who are not. In the event of disunity, there may be the need to ask the following questions: 1. Who we are: a team or fractured set of existence? 2. What are the root causes? 3. What are the possible alternatives to the problem? 4. What strategies are needed to address the problem? Until there is a thorough understanding of those root causes, it shall be the case of time wasting engineered by unnecessary arguments. Also keep in mind, there is voter apathy: eligible voters become disinterested in the entire process because of mistrust or the behavior of a set of people. Addressing the problem may be like a public policy making process: a proper definition of the problem that involves agenda setting and problem structuring. It is important we utilize these paths in solving problems in a political party because of the many interest groups and as a result of our interdependence. The dynamics of the problem may require careful study and a systematic approach so to be able to unearth the unanticipated consequences of the problem. WHERE IS THE OPPOSITION The opposition is with the people and not by the people in a democracy could be the appropriate description of the present. It is understood politics is nothing without the support of the people: if you cannot have the people to be with you or understand your vision, it amounts to waste of resources and your precious time. The obligation is to establish and maintain the expectations of the people through a transparent approach: it is about political accountability and motivation; a people willing and persuaded to follow your vision because of the values associated with the main dream. Consensus building should be the priority of the group; in the midst of those sharp differences, the leadership must carve out the appropriate strategies that will get people to agree and a balance created to address, if not all, the interests of the parties.
