WHO WROTE AESOPS FABLES? Thursday, March 20 Scheuer Room, 4:30-5:30 Jeremy Lefkowitz will present a faculty lecture. In this talk I will explore the origins and development of the ancient fable tradition during the periods before and immediately after fables began to be ascribed to the legendary Aesop (c. 6th century BCE). We will look at some ways in which evolving notions of authorship and literary value influenced the writing and circulation of Aesopic fables in classical antiquity.
