WHO is behind the negative AD against Tony Yarber? First and foremost, because both candidates agreed to no negative campaigning, I would think that a public denouncement of this garbage by Chokwe Antar Lumumba is in order...even though according to his camp he didnt authorize it. Based on what Ive been able to uncover, William Bill Dilday gave the authorization/go ahead for WJTV to air the negative/attack ad against Tony Yarber. Bill via email approved the ad through Stephanie Dumeyer, saying via written communication, this commercial is not from his man Tips Video, his Man Tips Videos are labeled by number. ALL THE OTHER STATIONS ARE RUNNING IT. What is particularly interesting to me is the paperwork submitted to stations list as the sponsoring PAC: Citizens For Decency. A quick search on the Secretary of States website, this PAC wasnt found/registered. Whats even more interesting is the fact that Socrates Garrett is one of Yarbers biggest supporters and last year at the Walthall Hotel in downtown Jackson Dilday and Garrett got into a FIST fight in the bar of this hotel. A fight that I witnessed and have first hand knowledge of the threat of a lawsuit that followed but was eventually dropped. I know the history of Dilday and Garrett and Im wondering if this (the ad) was put into action because of the bad blood between Dilday and Garrett... This is particularly disturbing because behind the scenes this comes across as a fight over who will be in control of the next mayor of Jackson. We have two very capable candidates under the age of 40 running for mayor. Two smart young men with the ability to govern. However, I think Antars supporters should demand that he have those commercials removed. Heres what I know about Tony...and what Ive been able to interpret from these videos or at least the 30-second one that I watched: 1) to know Tony is to know that those videos are harmless. 2) they reflect his attempt to appeal to young people in ministry. 3) the video is FUNNY period! 4) the video does not degrade women by any stretch of the imagination and 5) Yarber owns this and does not apologize for this because it is harmless and based on his release a tool designed for ministry. I bring this to your attention simply because this is an ugly attempt to sway voters and to cast the mindset of bad judgement against Yarber. Yarber was already in front of these videos having taken ownership of them when they surfaced during the first special election...this is an act of desperation from surrogates trying to change voters minds. This is a very close race and every single vote will be important. Like many of you, this old tired game of politics being played by folk that are not seeking office is PLAYED OUT. Do not be fooled by this. I also have a copy of the Flyer that I will post later, Im not sure of the source...but when you see them today and tomorrow, you will know its just a dumb old tired (insert any other adjective that you like) political game. I know voters in Jackson are smart and should be smarter than this. Vote for your candidate of choice...but please dont vote based on garbage and misinformation. I would hope Dilday and Garrett would settle their own score..plete their own personal fight and leave these two candidates out of it!
