WHY ARE YOU IN MINISTRY? What is your personal ambition for - TopicsExpress

WHY ARE YOU IN MINISTRY? What is your personal ambition for being in ministry? No, before you answer quickly - I mean honestly now, why are you, or do you want to be in ministry? The first answer would be, and should, be to see souls saved, and to add Spirit-value to the lives of others by being in service to God. The question is, is this really what motivates us? Is it the real and true and honest reason for us being in ministry? Or are there other reasons, like rising to prominence, to be seen and celebrated by people, being honoured and called by some lofty title of pastor, prophet, apostle, dr, bishop and so on. Is it the personal motivation for being elevated above others in a higher state, and demanding their respect and adoration perhaps? How about the drive to be successful, maybe after failing in being a success in some other area of life? For if souls are truly our motivation and our passion, why cant we let go of our selfish ambitions of being exclusively used by God in a way that will cause us to rise above the rest and to be crowned as super-preachers and evangelists? Why do God need to work through us in a great and more significant way than through our brothers and sisters? Why do we need the great big tent, the tv ministry and all the other gimmicks? There are those who are called to tv ministry and to tent ministry and to many other ministries, yes, but for the right reasons and in service to God! If souls are truly our mission and if we are truthfully in service to God, we should not care to lose our titles, personal ambitions and lofty personal visions. We should not care whether we minister to ten or to ten thousand. We should not care if people see us when we are used of God, or whether no one knows when God does wonderful things through our lives. If souls are truly our focus - All we should be seeing is people. All we should care about is people. Not in their masses, but as individuals in their own personal pain and hurt. It should matter little what others think or say, or how we are rated. Our heart should cry out for those who need Jesus and our hearts desire should not be to feature on a stage before thousands, but to kneel before one that is broken, hurting and need of the miraculous, liberating Power of God! One that needs a Touch and that needs to encounter and experience the Living Jesus! If you and I are true and truly called, let us take the time to get honest with ourselves and before God and search our own hearts. Let us discover why we want what we want, and re-discover the reasons why we originally were called to the ministry! Let us get our focus back on Gods Heart and get His Heart into ours! Amen? -vdhoven
