WHY CLAN FEUDS IN MANDERA COUNTY WILL NOT COME TO AN END SOON. Is devolution all about devolving resources and power to the grassroots? For devolution to sail with little or no bottlenecks county cake must be shared equally among the communities living in that particular county. History has it that scramble for resources has been the major cause of clan conflict hence hindrance to development. For a leader to spearhead and realize successful developments in any society equity has to be the pivotal principle. Mandera County has got a long history of clan clashes each clan competing for scarce resources and now that there is a new system of governance called county government which is loaded with one of the biggest devolved cake in the republic of Kenya, then why this new order is not solving the past and recent protracted conflict? As a county with huge budget allocation with sparse and diverse population, this clan mayhem should have been a thing of the past if the principle of equity and equality was adhered to. Have the extra resources united us or divided us? Just see how the distribution of county posts was done in Mandera county government.
