WHY DIDNT THEY THINK OF THAT BEFORE? So, Queensland Labor has devised the brilliant idea of keeping Queenslands assets, and using the profit to pay down the debt (you know, the $80 billion debt racked up by Qld Labor the last time around). So, the question is: Q. Why didnt Qld State Labor do that last time they were in govt? A. Because its a crock. The Qld State Government under Beattie and Bligh had every opportunity to utitlise state assets to pay down debt but did the opposite. Its not feasible. If you think Newman is tooting your horn, you aint seen nothing nothing yet if Annastasia gets her mitts on the chequebook. The debt will spiral out of control - again. Simply, governments have no business in business. They need to create the policies and conditions for business to thrive, employ and grow. The less the government interferes in our lives, and the smaller the public sector, the better off we all are.
