WHY IS TRUTH NEVER NAKED?...............................................By Okiki Odero-Rege. (®DAILY REFLECTIONS.) Jesus said He was, ...the Way, and the TRUTH, and The LIFE... John 14:6. That did not prevent the Jews from crucifying him, and the truth that He was. This has always been the fate of truth. Truth fears to reveal herself. Truth is never naked, for fear! We each owe each other the truth. Thomas Acquinas, was certain of this responsibility, As a matter of honor, one man owes it to another to manifest the truth. Have you fulfilled that responsibility? A certain proverb says, Tell the truth and then run Those who tell truth must risk Jesus fate, The truth is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should be treated with caution - Dumbledore. Telling the truth is no simple matter, A truth spoken before its time is dangerous, says a Greek Proverb. Most men prefer lies, ignorance, and to be slaves of these violent vices, I believe that it is better to tell the truth than a lie. I believe it is better to be free than to be a slave. And I believe it is better to know than to be ignorant - Henry L. Mencken. Since most men do not like truth, why should they be fed what they want not. American author, Mark Twain, therefore makes the following observation, Never tell the truth to people who are not worthy. This is probably why Jesus spoke in parables. The story of the ages has always been the same story, the story of truth. Margaret Thatcher, the British lioness, lady, and great stateswoman makes this observation, Of course, it is the same old story. Truth is the same old story. As it then was, it is! Truth does not change, men change, The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it and ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. - Winston Churchill. The changing nature of men obscures truth from most.Truth does not change when men do. The safety of any country will often depend on truth. Abraham Lincoln, Great American Statesman, makes this observation, Let the people know the truth and the country is safe. There is only one problem. Do the people always want to know the truth? Truth does not make men great! Confucius, the ancient Chinese Philosopher, observes that, It is man that makes the truth great, not the truth that makes man great. Man is the key resource. When the man has no desire for truth, truth cant be naked. Truth is naked, to men who seek it. It is hidden, to those who seek it not. American poet, Oliver Wendell Holmes, therefore observes that, Truth, when not sought after, rarely comes to light. God can never grant what men do not ask for. Asking is all! Truth must not be elegant. Perhaps, this is the reason why it is not readily discernible to most. The great physicist advises that, If you are out to describe the truth, leave elegance to the tailor. Truth is not beautiful, nor handsome. Truth is simply truth. Truth, is sometimes as beautiful as the lies, thus the resulting confusion. Transcendentalist, Ralph Waldo Emerson therefore makes an observation most interesting, Truth is beautiful, without doubt; but so are lies. Are we able to distinguish? Truth has many confusing faces, The truth has a million faces, but there is only one truth, as per the Swiss Poet, Herman Hesse. Open-minded we must be, The open minded see the truth in different things, the narrow minded see only the differences Truth is God. Mahatma Gandhi, Indian Statesman and Peacemaker, had no doubt, There is no god higher than truth. As a result, the greatest homage we can pay this God, as per Ralph Waldo Emerson is to, ...use it. Let us use therefore use truth. Let us therefore never let the truth beg, in Martin Luther King Juniors words, Superstition, idolatry and hypocrisy have ample wages, but the truth goes begging. Let us not fool ourselves, When you want to fool the world, tell the truth - O. Von Bismarck. Let us no longer let lies and wrong rule, James Russel, American poet observes that, Truth forever on the scaffold, wrong forever on the throne. Let us dethrone lies! Let us live balanced lives, for as Susan Sontag observes, Truth is balance... However, as we tell the truth, Voltaires disclaimer suffices, Truth is a fruit which should not be plucked until it is ripe. Tactless revelations of truth are injurious, Emily Dickinson therefore observes thus, Tell the truth, but tell it slant. Jesus said, The kingdom of heaven is within you. Search for the truth, within you, never outside, Truth lies within ourselves: it takes no rise from outward things, whatever you may believe. There is an inmost center in us all... - Robert Browning (Poet). Be TruthFULLY Blessed! ©Okiki Odero-Rege. Okiki Oderos DAILY REFLECTIONS. All Rights Reserved.
