WHY MIMIKO HAD TO MOVE! Never confuse movement with action, some move without reason, thus no action. While some move for reasons and full of action Mimiko has proved himself beyond all doubts. He remains the only Nigerian politician that left a truly national party for an almost nonexistent party and won governorship within so short a time as five months. With the party,he also won a second term slot. Now is the time to play national politics because he wont be eligible to contest a third time. Only naive analysts will expect him to play national politics with a party that hasnt really expanded beyond his state or a party that only got a name because he became governor on its platform. If Tinubu who controls five states with his ACN cannot play genuine national politics with the party but still did everything possible to ensure he alligns with other parties to play it big,why wont Mimiko leave LP to play it big? The only angst of many about Mimikos move to pdp is that theyd rather have had him move to APC. But why APC when he has always been a supporter of President Jonathan? Why APC when the likes of Tinubu will be lying in wait to suffocate him and his followers? In the truly national politics of today, its either youre in Pdp or Apc. The Labour Party has refused to grow - bearing the name without the support of the Umbrella body of Labour. Mimiko has tried to sustain the Party accounting virtually all the elected Officers of the Party and being the main reason while the Party was not deregistered. Truth again is, theres no better time for Mimiko to move than this. Only a foolish politician will wait until hes powerless and probably irrelevant to move on. Today,Mimiko is being celebrated by the who and who in PDP at the national level because they see him as a formidable enlargement for their coast but they wont see him that way if hes out of power. They may also not regard him much if he joins them after 2015 when Jonathan might have been re-elected. I repeat,Mimiko is one of the most astute politicians in the country today who knows when to make his move. Remember he moved to LP in 2006 against all threats posed by a despotic President Obasanjo and his own governor and many thought hes finished. IS IT FOR SELFISH OR PERSONAL GAINS? Some funny set of people have also been seeing the move as selfish. Methinks this is infantile and illogical Is it right to consider the movement of a political leader of Mimikos class a selfish move? Or like someone said .. for personal political gains? When Chief Obafemi Awolowo moved his UPN in 1979 to form a political alliance with strange bedfellows like Waziris GNPP,Aminu Kanos PRP and Ziks NPP in order to checkmate the ruling NPN,was it be considered a move for personal gains? When Tinubu moved his ACN to form an alliance with Buharis CPC and others was it for personal gains? Or to move himself and his followers out of the conclave of regional politics into mainstream national politics? When Mimiko moves and such moves yield political gains, will he be the only person to gain from it? His movement from pdp to LP produced many senators,Mhrs, commissioners, and sundry other political office holders. When someone is a genuine political leader, his decisions as far as political movements are concerned cannot be regarded as being for selfish gains. He might even have to consider his followers first because there isnt much left for him to achieve on the political terrain. DELE MOMODU:A CUNNING HYPOCRITE! 1) Dele used to be a member of Labour Party. He left it and according to him - ...Before my exit, when I found the party virtually irredeemable... But Dele is now upset with Mimiko for leaving the same Labour Party? Isnt it possible that Labour party is still irredeemable? In fact, Dele accused the current party leadership of Chicanery 2) Dele says - ...Iroko has jettisoned loyal Labour Party members who felt his leadership was necessary in their
