WHY MUST EBOLA CARRIERS COME TO NIGERIA ? ( A UNJE EKURU KOTAN,WAN TUN NGBON OWO RE SAWO) ..as another Ebola consignment arrives..... What is happening. Few weeks ago when the Minister of Health declared that Nigeria will soon be Ebola free, the report was still trending when two cases were reported, and after three days, the Port Harcourt case came up. Just yesterday, I was happy with few of my friends that were directly involved at the Lagos Ebola centre when the news got to me that the last patient was released day before yesterday. And the Minister of Health made another declaration that Nigeria is almost Ebola free. Then this morning, this news of a South African woman who has been in both Guinea and Sierra Leone since April, arriving Lagos from Casablanca, Morocco via Royal Air Maroc on her way to South Africa showed potential signs of Ebola. Now the health authorities are holding her at the Ebola centre for Ebola where she is being treated as a suspected case and for more tests to see whether she actually had the virus. The woman who lives in Cape Town, filled out a health questionnaire on her arrival at Lagos in which she acknowledged suffering from diarrhea and vomiting, both possible symptoms of the Ebola hemorrhagic virus. While the fact that she displayed several Ebola-like symptoms and had been in the high-risk zone justified her being treated as a suspected case. Such symptoms are also present in other diseases, such as malaria and cholera, hence the need for a specific Ebola test. My take is that if she is Ebola positive, it means that all those that were in the airplane with her should be called back for quarantine. For someone who was suffering from diarrhea and vomiting to fly in an airplane from Casablanca to Lagos which is four hours, there is no way she couldnt have used the toilet for up to two times. Moreso, those in Moroocco where she stayed for over several hours waiting period before connecting to Lagos are not safe. The flight to Lagos leaves around 15 minutes after midnight and the airport is not so comfortable. She may have donated the virus across that area. Hmmmmmm ana apatchy apatchy, ona e leaky e leaky.
