WHY WE ARE SCRUTINIZING THE BAYELSA MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT UNDER SCRUTINY----BPIMC The Bayelsa Public Information Management Committee has beamed its searchlight on the Bayelsa Ministry of Transport for the following reasons: 1. So much money was spent in the media over the restriction of the movement of Kekenapep on our major roads, yet more than two months after the deadline, the status-quo has not changed and the Ministry is silent about this development. WHY? Is there a policy shift, change or review? The Public deserves to know. 2. We have observed with dismay, and our survey has shown that the Restoration Cabs on our roads are gradually depleting. The original intention of government for floating the Restoration Transport Scheme is to deliver value to Bayelsans in the Transport Sector and that was why government, for reasons of sustainability, the cabs were not to go out of the State. It is therefore difficult to explain why the taxi cabs, which were banned from going beyond the gates of Yenagoa City, are getting fewer by the day. What is responsible for this? The public has the right to know. 3. There are allegations of Ghost names in the Ministry and the Bayelsa Public Information is currently investigation the authenticity or otherwise of such allegations. Who are those people working hard to nullify the lofty goals of the Restoration Administration? The Committee will make public its findings on this matter to ensure that the truth prevails. Bayelsans should be rest assured that such investigations will continue to be carried out in any Ministry, Department or Agency, MDA, where complaints are raised by members of the public. The overriding aim is to ensure that Government policies and programmes are implemented to add value to the lives of Bayelsa people and other inhabitants of the State.
