WHY WE ENDORSE AREGBESOLA FOR SECOND TERM - NUT The Nigeria Union of Tailor, Osun Chapter on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 declared their unflinching support for the second term bid of Governor Rauf Aregbesola saying the union has never been recognised by any government such as now and its landmark achievements was made possible by this administration. Amidst funfair and jubilation the union members eulogized the developmental drives of Aregbesola in the state. The tailors who stormed the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park in Osogbo, venue of the programme in their thousands amidst jubilation and celebration, also decorated the Governor as the Life Patron of the Union. Delivering a speech on behalf of the president of the union Prince Olayiwola Akinloye, the Union Secretary, Alhaji Adejumo Muritala declared that the union decided to endorse the Governor because he has stood by his electoral promises of fulfilling the six point integral action plan which he promised the state. Muritala noted that the various achievements of the Governor through his six point integral action plan have been obvious and numerous to count stressing that even the Governor’s political opponents are acknowledging the Aregbesola’s unusual vision, passion and transformation drive towards success. While acknowledging that the three and a half years of Aregbesola’s administration have brought improvement and positive changes to the state, the union scribe noted that the Governor has justified the confidence reposed in him by implementing people-oriented projects across the three senatorial districts in the state. He expressed appreciation to the Governor for the opportunity given to the NUT to be the first beneficiary of dividends of democracy among artisans in the state through the sewing of “O YES” uniform saying that the opportunity given to tailors under the present administration has enabled the union to have a permanent tailors hall in Osogbo which will be named OLA AREGBESOLA TAILORS HALL. State Chairman of the union, Alhaji Olayiwola Akinloye said members of the union converged to appreciate the excellent performance of the governor most especially his love towards the artisans in the state. Akinloye said “when the governor reclaimed his mandate, he called on us and promised to give us the uniform contract, only 12 local government were participating in the union but since the opportunity came we have all the 30 local governments now fully participating in the union” In a goodwill message, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Elder Adelowo Adebiyi stated that apart from given the tailors in the state to sow the O YES uniform, Aregbesola’s administration had created employment for over 3,000 tailors in the state through the OMOLUABI GARMENT factory. In his response, Governor of the State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola said that the reign of conservative politicians has never favoured the people of Yoruba land from inception. He expressed appreciation that the people of the state have recognised the bold steps the administration is taking as a government saying it is beyond human wisdom but the Grace of God. According to the Governor “In the three and a half years of the present administration, there is no community or family that has not benefited from our programmes, that is the difference, our government is the government of the people our priority is to make life more abundant for the people” He said for the fact that various groups such as the Market Women, NATA, Hairdressers and other Artisans have massively endorsed the administration’s second term ambition and declared their support in recognition of the good work; it is a clear indication that the people of the state understand the vision of the administration. He urged the union not to stop at the endorsement but continue sensitizing the people and jealously protect their voters card to be able to vote in the August 9 Governorship election.
