WHY WE SHOULD END CORRUPTION AND PAY-FOR-PLAY POLITICS IN TALLAHASSE? AND, WHY SHOULD WE CARE? We joke about corrupt politicians, but corruption is not a joke. You would be amazed to know how much corruption costs each one of us in Florida. Medical costs are skyrocketing, property insurance costs at least everyone $500 too much every year, utility bills are billions of dollars too high, gasoline is still crazy high, higher education, cable TV and cellphones, everything is going up and up—except your paycheck. It’s at least $5 Billion per year, which is about $1,000 for every household every year. And it’s probably much more. But it’s not just the money that is stolen from us. If we kept that $5 billion per year, and it circulated in Florida’s economy, it would support 250,000 new jobs. Big money special interests spend almost $1 million per Florida legislator just for lobbyists. This doesn’t include the unknown millions in campaign contributions. They invest these millions because it pays them billions per year in return—and every penny of that comes out of our personal pockets. We should put a spotlight on the corrupt legislators who sponsor these bills. Eventually, people will stop re-electing the crooks.
