WHY WRITE HISTORICAL FICTION? Why write historical fiction? Let me tell you, it is an arduous undertaking, but for some writers, there is a passion to see our American history remain part of our heritage. History combined with story and a set of real historic characters and the fictitious characters they interact with is the best way to “teach” history. Historical fiction based on fact is entertaining and opens a window into our foundation as a struggling nation, and at the same time, we are learning from those who lived before us, who faced unthinkable hardship to obtain freedom for our nation. We connect historic fact in a meaningful way to present life. Historic characters stand up and take on life. They speak, live, love and die with courage. Read American history in story form; you won’t be disappointed. Don’t let our American history be lost!
