WHY YOU CANT GO HOME: Yesterday I took the kids to experience - TopicsExpress

WHY YOU CANT GO HOME: Yesterday I took the kids to experience where I used to work for 2 and a bit years after I immigrated to the US in 1999. I got off the airplane fully in love with my wife. And being with her was my one and only focus. But my career, well, although I had a good college degree (a first) as they call it in England... I had NO CLUE what I wanted to do with my life. But money was needed... So I got a job waiting tables. Or, actually hosting, I was too scared to wait tables. That is, until I gave it a go and realized how much extra money I could make. And how I could use my English accent and charm to pull extra tips from people. The hardest job I ever had, for sure. Not the hardest sales job ever, because people are already sold on eating when they come in :-) But PHYSICALLY a hard job --- 16 hour days on your feet. But its a sales job since you wait on 1,000s of people and you need to make them ALL happy. And thats a challenge that teaches you a lot about yourself and about other people. Anyway, I have fond memories of the place. And I thought the kids would like to see it, and maybe Id bump into some of the folk I used to work with. It was going to be a coming home party! But no, instead, no-one was there who I knew... and Ayden decided to puke broccoli everywhere, causing quite the commotion, while Landon sat under the table and screamed butt head at the top of his lungs. I dont think Ill be back.
