WI-FI EYE ON YOUR HEALTH HEALTHCARE: Wearable sensors could send readings to a GP or hospital via a wi-fi link to the web, allowing the sick to go home, rather than using a hospital bed. It is claimed this could save the NHS in England more than £150million a year. TRAFFIC: Sensors fitted to cars would track their speed via the GPS satelitte system or masts. If there is a crash, speed signs could be used to slow the traffic further back to keep it flowing. Road congestion costs the economy £7billion a year. The system might also be used to catch speeders. ENERGY BILLS: Sensors would be fitted to household devices, from washing machines to TVs, to track energy use. Smart meters would send real-time energy use figures to power companies to ensure bills are accurate. FARMING: Sensors placed in the soil would transmit water and nutrient levels to the farmer to allow him to decide whether it is necessary to add water or fertiliser to boost crop yields. dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2442237/Internet-revolution-make-TV-obsolete-Millions-forced-buy-new-equipment-decision-Freeview-different-broadcasting-spectrum.html
