WIFOMN on my lunchtime walk, Sydney Australia The Strand Arcade was built in 1891 and was the last arcade built in Victorian Sydney. It was given a national trust classification in 1970s but a fire in 1976 gutted the whole complex. It was then restored as close to its original state. Now it is a shopping arcade, a few steps off the busy street and you can step back 100 years in time. Some of the traders have been operating here for decades. The glass roof lets in the natural light, and notice the tiled patterns on the floor. Talk about clash of the ages - across the road is the modern Apple Store!
