WIKE ,PDP AND THE ZONING ABRACADABARA IN RIVERS: It is often said that because our Country is a heterogeneous Country , we are encouraged to do the Rotation policy in our leadership Mantra, so that all other part of the Country will feel carried along or have a sense of belonging this policy is not for National politics alone but also for the states and local government: Rivers state as a case point. Since the creation of Rivers state in 1967 various ethnic groups have ruled Rivers state, ranging from the Ijaws, to the Okrikas and to the Ogbas . It is to be noted that since the inception of our Modern democracy Dr Odili led the government of the oil rich state, as a young boy growing up with keen interest with social happenings of my state I have come to realize that whenever it is time for election in Rivers state there is always this proverbial upland and riverine dichotomy the promoters and believers of this statement have always said that it should be riverine and uplanders sharing the leadership of the brick house but because of the illogicality of this opinion it never held sway, hence the coming of Sir, Celestine Omehia and subsequently RT Hon, Chibuike Ameachi who is still the incumbent, it was believe that the aforesaid rotational policy was jettisoned for a new and probably reasonable one, the, senatorial District rotation this has been the bane of the cry of the ogonis and probably other regions that it is their turn to rule and that another Ikwerre man should not rule seeming from the fact that he comes from the same senatorial District with Ameachi. As rational as this might sound , because of our heterogeneous nature as a State, but on a second thought, you will agree with me that this is DEMOCRACY, and as a matter of fact we practice a Multi party system , hence everybody is free as air to aspire for any position of his or her choice in his own right and enshrined in the 1999 Constitution, furthermore the person can as well decide on any political party of his choice he wishes to join. It is worthy to point out here that I am not holding brief for Wike, PDP or any ethnic nationality neither am I being apprehensive of any party, tribe, whatsoever. The fact that we practice multi party system is enough reason for all tribe to have a trial for the hot seat . If at the end of it all ,PDP chooses Wike over other PDP aspirant , then so be it!!!! What wonders this writer most is the fact that when Gov Ameachi deserted the PDP and left the Party cash strapped and it looks like the PDP was heading to its early grave, it was Wike that was visible as daylight defending the party, He was the sole financial sponsor of the party in its trouble times, in regards to this , I will ask, where were all the People shouting down the heavens that Wike should not contest?? It is only advisable that any one who is not comfortable with the Wike Agenda should go and join another party and contest, all persons with the requisite qualification have the constitutional right to seek for any elected position he or she so desire . We have other parties, as a matter of fact the APC is the Party in government in the state at the moment. It goes without saying that, Rivers state is in interesting political times, Finally, whether Wike contest under PDP or not, Whether Wike is an ikwerre man or not , it is the good people of Rivers state that will decide at the polls, remember, SOVEREIGNTY BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE .
