Hyderabad 07-05 -2014 Letter No – NRP/HYD/PLC/TRF/02 To , Asst Commissioner of Traffic Police Punjagutta Traffic Police Office Hyderabad, SUB- Traffic Chaos at Ameerpet Chourasta posing a death trap Dear Sir, Few days back I had written a letter on 14th Mar.14 to your good self, describing the traffic snarl at Ameetpet is a death trap and has converted into a nightmare for the pedestrian. I am resubmitting the zest of the letter below. It has been more than 30 days of submission the letter to you. BUT TILL DATE NO STEP HAS BEEN TAKEN to resolve the problem and ensuring safety of pedestrians. I hereby making CC of the letter to other senior officers. I request your good self to initiate the action to resolve the problem at the earliest and there by saving the life of the public. Below is the Extract of the previous Letter submitted to your good self. The traffic in Hyderabad has been multiplying. The problem related to the traffic have also been gone up. Kudos to the Hyderabad traffic police, as it has doing its best to control the chaos. But Traffic chaos on Ameerpet has been a nightmare for the pedestrians. The Ameerpet has been one of the most populous place in Hyderabad. The Ameerpet chourasta now has been turned into an accident trap where the pedestrians are prone to death and accident. It is a delight for the vehicle drivers, but a sea of fire for the pedestrian. There are no foot bridges, no traffic signal, and speed breakers over a stretch of 2 km near that place, which can ease the problem of the Pedestrians. The pedestrians cross the road from onside to the other in a very very dangerous situation. The vehicles move continuously at a very high speed, which make the problem worse. The people first cross the onside and then stand on the narrow divider before going to the other side of the road. They have to maintain the balance very carefully while standing on the divider and then to wait when the Vehicles will get slow so that they can cross to the other half of the road. While standing of the Divider the vehicles pass with high speed and honking the horn. This creates bizarre to the pedestrian standing on the divider and as such there chances of getting slipped from the divider gets very high. Once they slip from the Divider they simply gets crushed under the vehicles. This is worst in the instances of Children. Old age people and woman. While standing on the Divider the panicked pedestrian wait for the vehicles to get slow to cross the next half of the road. But the Chourasta being little slope towards the Maitribhavan, the Vehicle driver enhance the speed rather than slowing down. Thus the problem for the pedestrian goes up again. This has made the people’s life a hell and they raise the hand surrendering to GOD try to cross it as they know any time they anything can happen while crossing the road. Till 2008 there was traffic signal near the Ameerpet Chourasta . The day the New Airport was opened, the same day the traffic signal was sealed. And chourasta was closed, and the reasons are not known to the people. The plight of the people has been worst ever since the Metro work started there. Because of the Metro work half of the road has been unusable. Therefore the traffic congestion is Extreme. Earlier at least there used to be some gap between the moving vehicles. But now the vehicles moves conspicuously at high speed near the Chourasta. Therefore the people absolutely find no place to cross the road. It is as good as walking on the fire zone with death and accident looming on the head to cross the road Few years back near the RS Brothers’ mall a foot bridge was constructed and that was a great relief for the people to cross the Road. On account of the metro work, even the foot bridge has been demolished, and people have no means to cross the road safely. There are no traffic signals, no speed breakers, no Foot Bridge near the chourasta. Amidst the high spend of vehicles and now no means to cross the road, the people find to cross the road in Ameerpet chourasta is as good as crossing the sea of fire and very very prone to accident and death. I request your good self to look into the problems at the earliest to end the nightmare of the people of Hyderabad. Kindly arrange at least, traffic signal, speed breaker near the Ameerpet Chourasta , that can certainly ease the peoples plight to a great extent. Thanks in Advance. Regards CA. N.R Panigrahy , FCA
