WILL SOMEONE IN ODISHA TOO SAY " THIS IS NONSENSE; IT SHOULD BE TORN UP"? Sambalpur; Burla & Hirakud are three different urban bodies. Election was deferred on account of the agitation over permanent Bench of High Court. The agitation was a long one. Government could have announced on formation of a municipal corporation comprising the 3 urban bodies. They did no such thing. Agitation subsided; deck was clear for holding the municipal election. Then Government thought of a Corporation. This would be a ground not to hold the municipal election in the three civic bodies and mark time; purely on partisan consideration. Similar is the approach for Rourkela. The city too will have the election deferred on similar ground. What is the harm in holding normal municipal election in the existing set up and take decision on the new corporations later? The decision appears to me NONSENSE AND SHOULD BE TORN UP. Will someone come up with PIL and stall this brazen political move to deny people of their democratic right?
