WILL YOU SAVE MY LIFE & TAKE ME HOME? NERVOUS & FEARFUL, HE STRUGGLED TO GET AWAY FROM ASSESSOR :( Fidel may be a big boy at almost 80lbs, but deep down inside he is just a gentle teddy bear. He readily gave up his toy back to the shelter assessor. Fidel also showed no interest in the food or rawhide portions of his behavior test. He was so nervous & fearful that his tail was tucked between his legs the entire time. Poor Fidel doesnt understand what happened to his world. He was surrendered as a stray, tossed aside like garbage, like he never mattered. All he knows is that he is no longer wanted. Sadly, he is now on the list to be killed at noon tomorrow. A volunteer writes: Beautiful Fidel ... a bit hesitant and hand-shy at first, once were outside and off-leash Fidel soon comes around, returning to me when I call him and quietly delighting in a good behind-the-ear scratch or back massage. As long as Im petting, hes happy to stay by my side but if another dog appears Fidel just has to go say hello and his how-do-you-do manners are excellent, calm and friendly no matter how big or small his new pal. He may be wonderfully low-key but a quick throw of the tennis ball and hes dashing about like a happy puppy, retrieving and releasing the ball to me with no trouble at all. Being the gentleman he is, Fidel waits patiently for treats before mouthing them ever so softly from my hand and though he does pull a bit on leash, his walking (and toileting) manners are just as youd expect and hes never anything but calm and responsive. His heart is open and eager for love and in a calm and understanding home our handsome boy will soon learn to trust again. Fidel is ready to offer a lifetime of grateful affection and everlasting loyalty to his new forever family.... Please dont let him perish tomorrow.
