WILLIAMS George H., Howie, age 85 of Hawthorne, on Wednesday, June 11, 2014. Born in Paterson, George had resided in Hawthorne all his life. George had worked as a chemical engineer for Allied Chemical, Mobay Chemical, and Bayer Chemical in Haledon, NJ. George was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War being awarded a medal of distinguished service. George was a member of the Elks Club, the American Legion, and had been active in the Boy Scouts having served as a scout master. George was the beloved husband of Carole (Heinze-Algera) Williams and the late Doris (Jacob) Williams who predeceased him in 1986. Loving father of Arlene Duncan and her husband Dan of Hillsborough, Ron Williams and his wife Barbara of Vernon, Judith Runz and her husband Philip of Hawthorne, and step-father of Susan Dykstra, David Algera, Jonathan Algera, all of Hawthorne, and Ruth Ruehle of Little Egg Harbor. Dear grandfather of Alex Duncan, Dan and Lauren Williams, Debbie Berry, Jennifer Lamb-Meyer, Robert and Alison Lamb, and Emmalee Runz. Step-grandfather of Josh, Dan, and Jennie Dykstra, Thomas, Shane and Emily Ruehle, and Jonathan DAmato. Great grandfather of Mackenzie Lamb and Lizzie Meyer. Step-great grandfather of Joseph and Aaliyah Dykstra. Funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne. Interment will follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park in Totowa. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation , St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital , or to the Boy Scouts of America Northern New Jersey Council.
