WIN HUMANITY BACK! Those grey eyes I could never forget. Clear grey eyes amidst a dusky face, enhanced with the kajal around it. It had to mesmerise anyone. She carried her 2 year old in her arms, who held on tightly to her saree. Ive come for the vaccine, doctor. His dad is paying the bill, she said. I couldnt help but look into her kids eyes while I examined him. Your grey eyes, I said with a smile, Your kid doesnt have it either. Are you sure its the eyes youre born with?, I asked jokingly. No it isnt, she said, with a grin, I got them just 6 months back. Aint it beautiful? I could hear a stick knocking hard against the walls outside. A young man walked in with dark glasses and a stick guiding his path. Well, we were both born blind, she said, pointing to the young man, My husband and I. We met at the vocational class for the blind, fell instantly in love and are married now. She blushed. It seemed like she remembered those romantic days. We have both been trying for eye donations since long. I was lucky to get someones donated eyes this soon. And imagine getting these lovely eyes to see my son, she laughed, Its like asking for a cycle, and getting a car. I didnt get the humour. I smirked. Shes this hyper, even before she could see. So please dont mind her, said the young man. I remember the day she opened her eyes after surgery. I wondered what she wanted to see for the first time in her life. Her beautiful self, her lover, her son, her parents or her set of lovely eyes. But she walked up to the doctor and asked to see the picture of the man whos eyes she had now. She said he was her God. Were you not offended?, I asked, with a curious smile, Who would you see for the first time when you get sight?. My son, he said confidently. Id be able to see myself, my wife, my God, my parents, my life, my future and both our real eyes in him. I wished hed see his child soon and theyd realize it was indeed her real eye color. I wished more people vouched to donate their organs. Change begins at an individual level. Be that person to not take your organs to heaven.. Heaven knows that we have more need for them here. Bangalore still lags behind other cities in India in organ donation. Lets win our humanity back. #Organdonationday #Donateyoureyes
