WIN!! WIN!! APPROACH, GOOD FOR GHANA Win !! Win !! is a term identifiable with Healthy / Civil Competitiveness amongst people belonging to divergent groupings. It is a situational outcome in which the gains accruing from a contest benefits each of two(2) or more opposing groups. Win!! Win!! sees life as a cooperative arena, not a competitive one, although there was and is a competition, a natural phenomenon which is indispensable. Win-win is a frame of mind and heart that constantly seeks common benefit in all human interactions. Win!! Win!! means agreements or solutions which are mutually beneficial and satisfying the totality of all concerned. Win!! Win!! is a form of negotiation, which seeks a common ground whilst reserving individual differences. ‘We both get to eat the pie, and it tastes pretty good for all’. A person or organization that approaches conflicts with a Win!! Win!! attitude, possesses four (4) vital character traits:- i.)Integrity: adherence to firm principles, true feelings, values, and commitments; ii.)Maturity: expressing your ideas and feelings with courage and consideration for the ideas and feelings of others; iii.)An ‘ABUNDANCE MENTALITY’: believing there is plenty for everyone irrespective of one’s origin, ethnicity, religious inclination; and iv.) Application of human flavor/touch, show of empathy & expression of godly love in all activities. David in 1Sam30:18-25 demonstrated the kind of posture that spoke volumes of a ‘Win, Win’ character, that did not create class society but, recognition of the worth of others, and making them feel important. After the 2012 General Elections, Ghana, a country noted for its Unitary and Presidential type of democratic governance, assumed a disjointed character, which (superficially) appeared harmless but an 8months fragmented system, posing a threat to the national fabric. When unity in healthy diversity reigns, the analogy I can give is : The human anatomy or a vehicle which the slightest problem to any small part, raises instant concern, rendering the whole system sick / inefficient: (“And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honored, all the members rejoice with it” – 1Corin12:26). On the other hand, an unhealthy alliance mostly found in African politics, which I will call ‘Losing Bonus Syndrome’( LBS in football), is counterproductive. It is like the pebbles gathered at a beach or any road construction gravels depot. From an optical point of view, they appear united but in reality, lacking the spirit of cohesion. In Eccl 4:9-12 is a fine description of a peaceful atmosphere but behind the scene, is a dangerous undercurrent, a rift only known to closest associates. The scripture dwelt on two(2) working to produce results, but the addition of a third force(Holy Spirit) or ‘a threefold cord…’, breaks the monopoly & discretionary approach to handling issues for the best of results that would benefit a wider spectrum of society . God Bless us. Help us steer the Ship of State to its desired haven, Amen.
