A wind advisory remains in effect for the eastern sierra slopes...The owens valley...And the spring mountains and red rock canyon until 5 am pdt sunday. * Winds:above 5000 feet...West 35 to 45 mph with gusts to 60 mph. Below 5000 feet...West 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 50 mph. The strongest west winds will be near canyon openings on the northeastern side of the spring mountains. * Timing: winds will peak this afternoon and evening in the sierra before diminishing early sunday morning. Winds will peak overnight in the spring mountains and red rock canyon before rapidly diminishing before sunrise. * Locations: the town of mt charleston...Red rock...Aspendell... Whitney portal...Bishop...Independence...Lone pine...Olancha * Impacts: gusty winds may create difficult travel conditions in the higher elevations. Early season winds may cause higher than usual amounts of downed tree debris in the area.
