WINDER WORK PLAN THIS WEEK Winder, Ga. – Georgia DOT announces the work plan this week for Downtown Winder. This morning, September 9, the intersection of Athens Street and State Route 11 will be closed to through traffic on the Courthouse side as the precast concrete slabs are installed across the intersection. It will re-open Tuesday morning, September 10. Sidewalk, curbing and gutter construction will continue during the day between Porter Street and Athens Street. The westbound lane of SR 11/Broad Street will be closed nightly, tonight through Friday, September 13 from Athens Street to Candler Street. This 0.72 mile long project awarded to G.P.’s Enterprises of Statham for $4,949,306.21 with a completion date of July 31, 2014. The project will rebuild SR 11/Broad Street from the ground up, creating a stronger driving surface that will last decades. Enhancement work includes new sidewalks, curb and gutter, benches, lighting and landscaping.
