WINKY There were about 230 animals at the Helmetta Regional - TopicsExpress

WINKY There were about 230 animals at the Helmetta Regional Animal Shelter that needed to be vetted, rescued or adopted before Helmetta closed it’s doors last week. WINKY was one of them, and he watched as all the animals went before him until he was the LAST REMAINING ADOPTABLE dog sitting in an empty kennel with nowhere to go. When the call came into our shelter to ask if we wanted to pull WINKY – we didn’t hesitate to say yes. We weren’t sure what we were getting, but then his photo came and we were both delighted and in shock – A PUPPY! And adorable, loving puppy! Then we met him and every heart melted and many tears were shed. Its a mystery why he waited so long; and now we want nothing more than to spoil him rotten and find him the best home ever. So why was WINKY passed up time and time again? We can’t figure it out! We can only guess that it was because WINKY has food allergies (very easily remedied!) that if ignored gives him a skin condition. We took him to our vet who gave him a shot for his allergies, changed his diet, and watched the transformation begin - after only one short week he is ONE HANDSOME, ADORABLE PUPPY BOY WITH A GORGEOUS SHINY COAT! This delight of a dog jumps up in the air on all fours as if he has a spring under his feet, he loves to play and loves to be loved. His eyes melt your heart and he has a playful and endearing personality. He tried so hard to get everyone’s attention while he was at Helmetta, in fact he wagged his tail so much in his prior kennel that he injured the tip by banging it against the sides – he is currently under the care of our veterinarian for his tail; but that is why WINKY needs to wear his cone. We are pretty sure WINKY didn’t get walked on a leash prior to arriving at OBAS – but he walks quite well with minimal pulling. He will make someone a wonderful family pet. He is playful, responsive, alert and most of all – he is loving and forgiving for all he has experienced in his short, little life. We are determined to make this portion of his life the best ever. The OBAS is open daily from 10am-12pm; 1pm-3pm for adoptions.
