Jan 18, 2014 DARE TO BE DIFFERENT Gen 37:8 And his brothers said to him, “Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words. Had God consulted with Josephs brothers to seek their approval before putting such a dream in Josephs heart they would have expressed their disapproval. God however did not consult them for approval and neither did Joseph. Joseph shared his dream with them and though they disapproved, he was not swayed nor did he stifle his dream to please them. He dared to stand out! Joseph would have joined the club of mediocres had he allowed the disapproval of his family stop him from expressing his dream and the purpose of God over his life would have been aborted. All of Israel would probably have been wiped out had there been no one to go ahead of them. Be careful of the approval of men as many will feel intimidated by your dream and will do all they can to discourage you. Pursuing your dream can be lonely when you do not have the approval of men. Joseph knew himself and the source of his dream well enough not to give up. Many have such big dreams but they look down on themselves and they stifle their dreams. Never joke with ideas that come to your spirit because they are world overcoming ideas. Dare to stand out! Do not allow the society or environment around you stifle you and define who you are because you are; you were born to be unique. Josephs great grandfather, his grandfather, his father and ten of his brothers were shepherds but something told him that he was not born to be a shepherd but to be an administrator. He dared to be different and he made a difference in his generation. Dare to be different today. CONFESSION: God will have me do unprecedented things this year. PRAYER: I am being filled by a God-given idea that will revolutionize my life and my generation. FURTHER STUDY: Gen 37
