WINNING EACH DAY DEVOTIONAL 2 Cor 2:14 And thanks be to God who ALWAYS causes us to triumph… June 20, 2014 THANKFUL HEART Psalm 75:1 AMP We give praise and thanks to You, O God, we praise and give thanks; Your wondrous works declare that Your Name is near and they who invoke Your Name rehearse Your wonders. A smart way of conquering worry is by being thankful. You cannot be frantically worried and excitedly grateful at the same time. Worry casts a shadow of doubt on God’s ability or willingness to help; thanksgiving acknowledges God’s ability, trusting that if He did it before, He will do it again. BENEFITS OF BEING THANKFUL 1. Thanksgiving is the protocol of God’s presence. Psalm 100:4 of The Message Bible says,’ Enter with the password: Thank you! A father is more eager to bless a child that is thankful for the last act of generosity. When you worship or pray, start with thanksgiving. When you’re done praying, thanksgiving should be the conveyor of your petitions. 2. Thanksgiving is God’s will for your life (1 Thessalonians 5:18). A thankful person stands out because not many people are thankful. Of the ten lepers, only one returned, giving thanks. 3. Thanksgiving brings multiplication: Every time you thank God for the small things you see, they become big. (John 6:11) Thanksgiving invokes the manifest presence of God. WHAT TO THANK GOD FOR Everything! Sometimes, you may need to remind yourself to be thankful, like David. (Psalm 103:1) When you are deliberate about being thankful, your life will be filled with an endless sequence of God’s wonders. CONFESSION: As I invoke Your Name, I rehearse Your wonders! I have become as a wonder unto many. PRAYER: Father, help me stay thankful and full of faith in every situation. FURTHER READING: Psalm 71:8, Luke 17:11-19.
