WINSTON-----Special Needs Adoption Lone Star BMD Rescue has Winston up for adoption. Winston is 16 months old and was recently neutered by LSBMDR. He is current on all his vaccinations and is heartworm free. Winston is 85 pounds. He is good with cats and other dogs. Winston is recommended for the experienced dog/berner owner. He is not recommended for children. Winston has moderate to severe hip dysplasia per the x-rays taken at the time of his neuter. Per Dr McClain at this time he is asymptomatic. However he may needs medication for pain relief as he ages, and careful monitoring of his condition as he continues through life. Glucosamine supplements are highly recommended. Currently he gets up without an issue and runs the yard, he has a slight sashay in his walk. Winston has some aggression (dominance ) issues noted when he is reprimanded for overzealous behavior. Example was when Winston thought he should be first through a doorway, when pulled by collar back and told no, he gave a low gutteral growl, when confronted for the growl he lifted his lip. A second was when he put his nose in the trash and was sternly told no he responded with a growl He did not bite and he did go into the down positions as asked, but continued to growl. He did not bite but requires training and confidence building. He needs a strong and steady hand. 99% of the time he is a happy tail wagging boy, greats all with a tail wag, men and women. Walks well on a leash, loves to go for a walk. Knows sit and down. Positive clicker trainer would be advised. Again Winston needs just the right home......
