A winter weather advisory for areas above 7000 feet in the eastern sierra slopes remains in effect until 11 am pdt this morning. * Timing: the main band of steady snow has passed...But frequent snow showers will persist through the morning. * Snow level: above 7000 feet. * Total snow accumulations: above 7000 feet snow totals of 5 to 10 inches can be expected with lesser amounts below 7000 feet. * Winds: 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 55 mph near passes are expected...Creating areas of blowing and drifting snow and white out conditions. * Impacts: periods of snow will cause difficulties for hikers and campers and travel difficulties on high elevation roads. Trees with leaves on their branches may succumb to the weight of the snow. Wind driven snow will be especially dangerous creating white out conditions at times.
