WITNESS SEES SCHOOLBOY KILLED BY YELLING MOB By BONGANI FUZILE A SCHOOLBOY was killed on his way to study for matric exams yesterday. Police believe the Nompumelelo mob that stoned, kicked and beat the youth to death at about 10am had wrongly connected him with baseless rumours of child-snatching flying around East London. A murder docket has been opened, police said, but no one has yet been arrested. Eyewitness Monde Dabeni, who was visiting a friend at the time, told the Dispatch: “We heard a commotion outside and went to see what was going on. People were yelling, throwing stones and hitting him with steel pipes and tools, and kicking him and stamping on him. “I heard them say ‘Jah, he is dying now’. “Then we left as we saw the police arriving.” Provincial police spokeswoman Brigadier Marinda Mills said the kidnapping rumours were completely false and warned communities not to take the law into their own hands.
