WOMENS DAY ........ The origin of the festival dates back to the 8th of March 1908, when a group of workers of a textile strike in New York as a form of protest against the terrible conditions in which they were at work . The strike went on for several days but it was the 8th of March that the ownership of the company blocked the exits of the factory, preventing the workers to leave the same . A fire mortally wounded 129 workers , including Italian women who are simply looking to improve their quality of work. Among them there were many immigrants, including Italian women who , like the others, trying to improve their condition of life. On March 8, assumed global importance over time , becoming the symbol of the oppression that women have had to endure over the centuries and the starting point for the ransom of his dignity. March 8 is then the memory of that sad day. It is not a party but rather an occasion to repeat every year as the indelible sign of what happened the last century.
